Right out of college, I started my own line of missy contemporary back in 1977. The name Harper Greer comes from an inspiration from a baby name book… (I loved the glamorous sound of it!). Working from a tiny work space in Salinas, California and just a shoestring budget; I sketched the designs, made the patterns, cut and sewed the fabric and finally… I made appointments and sold my line, Harper Greer to stores in Carmel, San Francisco and Back East.
Fast forward to the early 80’s, I met my husband to be, jazz pianist John Kiskaddon – and inspired by John’s size 14 mother Lillian, we teamed up to design clothing for all size women, not just small ones. We went on to sell our Harper Greer line to stores such as Bloomingdales, Forgotten Woman, Neiman Marcus, Jacobson’s and Macy’s and dozens of boutiques all over the country! In 1988 John and I changed our business model from just wholesale and opened our very own Harper Greer store on 4th Street in San Francisco. We had found a recipe for success and use it to this day:Ingredients are crucial. Fabulous quality fabrics, clothes that truly fit your body (no matter your size) design clean, updated classics that never go out of style. And the most important- At Harper Greer you are treated to superb service. Helpful, non- pushy style therapists are honest with you!

A few years and stores later, we had the opportunity to open at La Fiesta Square. We’re so happy to call Lafayette our home now and hope to be here for many years to come. John and I work in the store almost every day so be sure to stop by for some fun conversation, a little piano ditty by John and maybe even shop for some clothes and accessories!
